“I was just fat and unhappy, basically. I own that and finally decided I need to do something about this.”
My story is I don't really have a story. Life has happened to me like life happens to everybody.
I'm like, "I don't have cancer. I didn't have a heart attack." I was just fat and unhappy, basically. I own that and finally decided I need to do something about this.
Five years ago I ran the Marine Corps Marathon. I did two halfs after that. I was injured for both of those, but I kept running anyway. Then there were three years of doing nothing.
I knew I needed to do something. I couldn't just go back and start running again because I wasn't sure that I was gonna get the results that I wanted or was looking for, and how my foot was going to feel.
That's what I'm doing here, changing my life, changing my habits, and getting back to being not fat and being happy again.
Here, I feel like I'm part of a team again like I used to be when I played soccer from kindergarten all through college. Obviously, we're not scoring goals or trying to win a championship, but we all have goals, and we're all trying to be better.
